The Legacy
In 1906, at the age of twenty-nine, Arthur Flitner arrived in Shell Valley and made a commitment to settle there as a rancher, raise his family and dedicate his life to the Western ranching tradition. The Flitner Ranch has been a working cattle operation since that time.
The Hideout
In 1994, David and Paula Flitner established The Hideout at Flitner Ranch in order to share their ranch home with guests from around the world. The Hideout’s mission then and now is to enrich guests’ appreciation of the Old West and for the American Western ranching tradition.
The Hideout has been successful in sharing that mission. Hundreds of guests from all over the world come each summer to share cowboy adventures. They express that it is the genuine ranch experience, combined with a heartwarming sense of community that brings them back again and again.
The Hideout Private Residence Club
Now, this legacy that has lived on at the Flitner Ranch for over one hundred years can become part of your family’s history, thanks to the Hideout Private Residence Club.
The Hideout Private Residence Club is a non equity membership offering an equestrian based, experiential adventure through the use of our 300,000 acre Guest Ranch. Members enjoy luxurious accommodations with unparalleled recreation opportunities while making a positive contribution to our environment through membership in our conservation and preservation trust, The Shell Valley Preservation Initiative.
The Hideout Private Residence club is offering by invitation only, a total of 88 memberships to be shared among 11 luxury homes offering dramatic views of the Bighorn Mountains and Shell Valley.
Legacy Members receive a total of 4 weeks year round use and additional use according to availability. Membership features include concierge services, use of recreation & dining amenities from the Hideout Guest Ranch, Snowshoe Lodge and the Upper Hideout, thousands of miles of trails to explore with your equine friends, an international clientele, and all of the benefits with none of the hassles of second home ownership. Members pay a one-time, 100% refundable membership deposit to join the Hideout and annual fees of $8000.
The Hideout is a place to share with our children and our children’s children; a place they will come to know as their own private sanctuary. A chance to be land stewards so that future generations may marvel at the same spectacular, unspoiled landscapes. Our members embrace this valley as their own national park – as a treasure that, if protected, can herald its history and heritage through the test of time.
