Rich in the beauties, natural resources and history of North Park, Colorado, the Ginger Quill Ranch provides an excellent environment for ranching, fishing, hunting, hiking and family recreation. Facilities include furnished lodges and cabins, stocked lakes and direct access to the Platte River, Routt National Forest, BLM lands, and the Platte River Wilderness Area.
In the mid 1960's, Dr. Archie Hess and Dr. Wilber Downs found the opportunity to purchase the spectacular Quaintance Ranch nestled along the banks of the North Platte River. Soon after, the purchase of this historic ranch was completed and the name was changed to The Ginger Quill Ranch.
In 1967, the owners formed a corporation to hold and preserve the ranch. The primary purposes of the new corporation were to purchase, own and operate a ranch for the encouragement of fishing and hunting, the raising and grazing of livestock, the maintenance of existing buildings and construction of new buildings. From the beginning, the goal of the Ginger Quill Ranch has been to promote family enjoyment and to provide; “an opportunity to enjoy fishing, hunting, camping, and vacation experiences with other shareholders to the mutual happiness, good will and welfare of all shareholders.”
In the fall of 1975, the 160 acre Dunn property was purchased by the corporation to provide access to the outstanding hunting and scenic areas of the adjacent Independence Mountain area.
Today The Ginger Quill Ranch Corporation is held by 53 individual shareholders. Each shareholder has a lease to use a designated 1-acre homesite upon which the shareholder may build a vacation home that meets with architectural standards set by the corporation. In addition, the shareholders have unlimited access to the ranch’s 6 cabins, lodge, 2 trout lakes and private access to the North Platte River.
The ranch is deeply committed to conservation of natural resources and wildlife and is continuously involved in projects to serve this intent. This commitment has created an outstanding recreational ranch for hunting, fishing, hiking and riding throughout the private and public trail system. |
