Each cabin is handsomely appointed offering full kitchens and bathrooms. There is also a well furnished Manager’s home. The primary heat source in each cabin is either electric baseboard or propane. Running water is available in all improvements.
The main house provides office space, four spacious bedrooms, two large full bathrooms, and a commercial kitchen with a large dining room. The adjacent building serves as a pantry housing refrigeration, freezer and dry storage space for food service operations.
The Elk River Guest Ranch was first homesteaded in 1902 and used as a summer base camp for miners. Gold, rubies and diamonds are still found in the local rivers and hills. The main house was a mining lodge in the early days when looking for gold, silver and precious jewels was the main lure of the Rocky Mountain. After determining that cattle and sheep ranching were more profitable than mining, the original homesteaders turned their sites to using the ranch as a family retreat.
The Ranch's elevation is 7600 feet rising quickly to 8600 feet along the ridge overlooking the Ranch, the Continental Divide and Mount Zirkel Wilderness Area. Average snowfall is 350 inches per year.
The Elk River winds along the southern boundary of the ranch for about ½ mile, providing an excellent private trout fishing experience. The Ranch boasts three beautiful meadows with meandering streams, secluded trails linking to the surrounding forests
Classic buck'n'rail fence surrounds the property along with some wire fence to separate the meadows for livestock grazing. Three wells and one developed spring run year round providing excellent drinking water to every tap.
This is an excellent horse property with a forty ton hay storage building, two barns with large tack rooms, work bench and foaling room as well as a round pen for training.
